Our study abroad programs are uniquely designed to highlight the critical intersections between philanthropy and interior design. We challenge traditional academic silos by demonstrating how the built environment is instrumental in providing effective social services. Students explore how structural elements and design choices—from room layouts to color palettes—can profoundly impact individuals served by organizations like homeless shelters and child advocacy centers, ultimately lowering trauma and fostering well-being. This innovative approach offers a holistic understanding of design's role in creating meaningful social change.
